DJ, producer and singer-songwriter Eric Boss is a man of many talents but with his newest release, we can put funk at the top of the list. Simply titled "Bad Luck", the record sees Boss delivering a smooth, laid-back performance over a head-nodding funk-soul jam accentuated by crispy drums and a heartwarming bass line. Armed with a passionate and lively vocal style, he details his challenges dealing with bad luck which never seems to leave him. This is done with a cheerful approach to keep the listener engaged while thinking deeply about the situation. One thing to note is Boss completely owns this style with a fresh take on the genre as he blends the classic styles with contemporary elements.
"Bad Luck" is taken from his upcoming debut EP 'A Modern Love'. The project was handled by producers Björn WagnerandSteffen Wagner (The Mighty Mocambos / Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band) and is made up of raw funk, sweet soul, west coast vibes and classic hip hop. Features are limited to Gift Of Gab (Blackalicious), Gizelle Smith and Ishtar. For those that don't know Eric Boss is one-half of world-touring soul duo Myron & E (Stones Throw), founder of boogie outfit The Pendletons (Bastard Jazz) and also a part of electro-funk duo Lucid Paradise.
