Minnesota-born rising singer-songwriter and producer Jay Tone has carved out his own path in music led by his magnetic presence and lyrical prowess.
Right from his 2021 debut EP New Chapter – which included the darkly honest “Demons and Screamin,” a collaboration with A$AP P On The Boards of the legendary A$AP Mob – Jay’s craft has shined with an emotional undertow.
However, this shine wasn’t always bright. During the pandemic, Jay like many others with depression and anxiety. His music became a solace as he doubled down on perfecting his craft.
Posting open verse challenges on Instagram became both a creative outlet and a launchpad. It was during one of those freestyles that DKM Management discovered him on A$AP TyY’s Instagram Live. Just like that, a kid from St. Paul found himself taking real steps toward a music career.
He has since relocated to New York City, enrolled in vocal and sound engineering studies, and found himself drawn toward a softer, more melodic direction. Inspired by voices like Kid Laroi, Ed Sheeran, and Ben Platt, Jay’s music has evolved from rap-driven beats to piano-laced storytelling.
With an artistry coming to life in the space between singer-songwriter vulnerability and pop accessibility, Jay’s latest single “Puzzles,” delivers a raw, confessional, and achingly relatable message exploring the weight of being someone else’s “missing piece”
Born out of a painful breakup, the track brims with a sense of intimacy even as it resonates with the realisation that true happiness can’t come from outside sources. Unravelling with honesty and emotional depth, the track gives us a glimpse of an upcoming project set to be released in 2026.
