Meet Chace, the 20-year-old musical prodigy based in Shanghai. While he is mostly known as a fast-rising house producer, former Barong Family signee and the first Chinese DJ to perform at Tomorrowland main stage, he is ready to depart from his production roots into a full-fledged artist with his latest offering, "Like I Do."
The smoky R&B infused track revolves around commitment issues and uncertainties of a broken relationship. Chace has sung on his previous electronic records before, but the new release offers us a chance to uncover the subtle texture of his sultry sounds. A murky undertone is built with solemn production and beats stick deep in your bones. The resultant piece evokes a melancholy, heartfelt mood.
The concept video cleverly conveys a gloomy aesthetic with neon colors. The end of the video reveals not only the creative studio space in Shanghai, but also the hints of something bigger in the works about to drop. It kicks off Chace’s new project, INSOMNIA, a full music and experiential project in the works for over a year. Expect more new music very soon.
