Moscow-based Pompeya's new single "Hot Summer July" taps into the '80s spirit with new wave pop elements.
The four-man band brings out the big guns on this record as they display an array of '80s aesthetics – from the anthemic drums, engulfing rock guitar riffs and pop-driven lyrics. The overall sound reminds me of Peter Gabriel's classic "Big Time" record with a modern day twist. It is pure nostalgia on wax and definitely a record we highly recommend for new wave/pop fans and music lovers.
For the visual, they teamed up with visual-artist/Instagram star Ganna Bogdan and spent three days in LA with her to make it happen. She truly delivers a perfect visual accompaniment as she brings the retro-tinged song to life with coloured gel lenses, fisheye effects, DTLA views and classical Santa Monica vibes.
They are currently working on their new LP Dreamers which will be out later this summer.
