Nick Koenig, also known as Hot Sugar just released an EP called MiDi Murder under Scion late last month. As an innovative producer based in New York, Koenig collaborated with a few other locals and passer-byes such as Kool AD, Fat Tony, Heems, Chippy NonStop, and Big Baby Gandhi. MiDi Murder is a hip hop record with strikingly soft, intricate constructions. Young rapper, Haleek Maul also paired with Hot Sugar and yesterday, Stereogum premiered the official music video for "I Don't Wanna B Judged". Starting off with Koenig playing an electronic keyboard, you are later directed to various screens of questionable, yet very personal activities (find Kitty Pryde in one of them). The hypnotic whir from Hot Sugar places an emphasis on Maul's hard-boiled lyrics. Get lost in it below.
