Korean-American pop singer/songwriter Sabrina Lee shares her second single “Be There.” Hailing from Leesburg, Virginia, the 17-year-old newcomer is already showing off her early knack for crafting infectious electro-pop gems. While she cites Halsey, Chelsea Cutler, Billie Eilish to name a few as her influences, Lee’s own aptitude for pop, electronic, and alternative is clear as day.

“Be There” is an exceptional display of Lee’s reassuring accents and productions that draw listeners closer in with each arrangement. The song pushes for self-realization after shedding one’s old skin during troubling times. Narratively, it’s straightforward in its message of being there for someone when the weight of the world seems too heavy for them to endure. At the same token, “Be There” is a heartfelt bop—a blend of lush synths, heavenly melodies, and tender vocals. While there are hints of melancholy both in sonic tones and on the lyrical front, “Be There” remains upbeat with its lighthearted rhythm and promoting this feeling of dancing your way through the endless horizon of possibilities that lie ahead.

Over email, Lee shared this about her song, “I just really wanted to make an upbeat, lighthearted song because of everything going on right now. It’s really hard to stay motivated and stable during these times but that’s exactly when I turn to music. I’ve been listening to a lot more upbeat and happy music to distract myself and escape reality, even if it’s just for those 3-4 minutes. The lyrics for ‘Be There’ are pretty self explanatory–like when the pre chorus says “and if the world stops spinning ‘round, I’ll still stick around.’ It’s kinda just relating to everything going on. The main message is that even though it seems like the world is ending, I’ll still be there for you.”

“Be There” follows her debut single “Hurt” released this past summer.
