Eli Hurts wants us to give it up for the “Runts”

Eli Hurts is one among many DIY pop-punk artists that have seemingly emerged out of the blue, but despite his growing audience, he hasn’t forgotten where he came from. Eli became increasingly popular with his single “TOO MUCH”, a perfect blend of noisy alternative and grainy pop-punk — a sound-trend he follows with his latest release: “Runts”. The track starts with a chill guitar melody, easing into a more grunge punk vibe throughout the chorus. The track refers to the “Runts”, or underdogs, striking a chord with those who identify with the outsider aspect of the pop-punk genre. A unique spin on the new pop-punk movement, Eli seems to have gone for a mild combination of bedroom pop, alt-rock, pop-punk (of course), and perhaps a little hyper-pop-inspired digital bass. The track is definitely unique, which is the perfect way to be for a growing genre.
