The Bergamot is back with “Tides,” a new deeply emotional single that turns a personal story of family into a universal meditation on love, loss, and the desire to leave a mark. The lead single off the duo’s forthcoming album "Before This Is Over," the track explores abandonment, regret, mortality, and the powerful need to feel remembered.
“Tides” is inspired by the late father of Nathaniel Paul Hoff, Joel Patrick Hoff, a man whose life story is nothing short of extraordinary. Joel is one of the longest living kidney transplant survivors, having survived 45 years with a transplanted kidney. It’s about the moments that shape us, the relationships that challenge us, and the memories that linger long.
This release is a song about the complicated emotions that come with love, uncertainty, and the fear of being forgotten, and it also gives you a chance to connect with themes that are much bigger than one person's story. Legendary London producer and engineer Matt Wiggins mixed and produced the track, adding to the heartfelt message of the song.
“Tides” is a strong introduction to the emotional world of the forthcoming project as The Bergamot prepares for "Before This Is Over." The single is proof of the duo's talent for transforming personal stories into compelling musical narratives and is a must-listen for fans of emotionally charged music, honest songwriting, and authentic storytelling.
