Glazed with summer hues, Chichester quartet Suns Up deliver their sleekest performance to date on their first single of 2020. Filtered with fizzy grooves and hazy vocals, "Grows" is an infectious tune yearning for just a little bit more pizzazz from life.
Stepping away from their typical indie-pop sounds - see EARMILK-approved ("Do What You Feel Like") - Suns Up have matured into their indie-shaped outfit. Choosing to explore the versatility of guitar-led musicality without the influence of glimmering psych-pop, the band have produced a track that puts them clearly on a fresh trajectory to success. The slight twist in genre sees the quartet moulding their own indie framework and as a result producing a lavish, velvety tune. Written in the back of a car during a journey from London to the Isle of Sheppey, the band explain that the single is "about us being in the prime of our lives enjoying what's happening but deep down wanting more, questioning yourself daily but finding comfort in staying up late at night working on something you're passionate about."
Suns Up's indie trajectory is a constant ever-evolving narrative. This is an utter bop and is out now on Young Poet Records.
