Atmosphere keeps it classic on "Bde Maka Ska"

One of the more savory tracks of November is Atmosphere’s “Bde Maka Ska,” an old-school hip-hop number stuffed with rhythm and panache. The song’s delicate piano overture and hearty bassline give way to Slug’s typical sticky-confident verses that set up the kickdrum’s strong entry. As electric guitar chords reverberate, the song flows and gets grooving, and any other emotion elicited is gravy. As the holiday season kicks into gear this week, we can take a moment to relax and look back at some of the better releases of this month.

The Minneapolis group continues to add accolades to a career that has honored hip-hop’s classic ‘80s vibe. “Bde Maka Ska” is a song with a traditional instrumental beat and crystal-clear vocals delivering a message about life’s good times, bad times and all the above and below. Atmosphere’s latest record Mi Vida Local sizzled in 2018, and in just a year, the collective of Slug, Ant and Plain Ole Bill is back it, making beats and keeping bodies moving. Stream the newest track from Atmosphere and groove away this holiday season.

Atmosphere is currently in the middle of The Whatever Tour North America, a winter joyride through major U.S. cities from Austin, TX to Burlington, VT. This latest continues the Atmosphere legacy started in 1996, conquering stages with their charm.
