Chicago producer and DJ Unregistered User joins forces with New York alternative hip-hop artist, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and turntablist Vermin the Villain on atmospheric offering "Mass Appeal," the lead single from his upcoming album The Epoch. Led by an experimental approach to hip-hop, the track blends the artists' gritty signatures together for an immersive sonic experience.
Rooted in cinematic worldbuilding, the expansive number draws listeners into an alluring world that sets listeners into an arcade, crafting a grand and vivid world in a fictional universe. With the song title inspired by Gang Starr’s 1994 classic “Mass Appeal,” the anthemic production dives into themes of mass appeal and popularity of gaming and arcade culture juxtaposed against Unregister User's rich underground sonics.
Built on glitchy instrumentals and smooth flow from Vermin, the track balances nostalgia and modernity as it evokes the image of playing actual game in real time. Speaking of the collaboration UNREGI says, "The opportunity to work with someone like Verm, whom I’ve been a fan of for the past couple of years now, has been an absolute honor. I certainly, more than anything, hope people appreciate what happens when two dope artists can align creatively on a record like this, despite being on opposite sides of the country."
Having crafted a genre-bending artistry spanning R&B, house, techno, jungle, vaporwave, and future funk, UNREGI continues to expand and evolve his craft with each new release framed by enriching legacy and bold ambition.
