After a series of single releases, Toronto artists Shagabond and Noah have finally released their debut collaborative EP Everything, All at Once via Majestic Casual. The six-track journey draws upon both artist's pasts to chronicle the different stages of romance.
With an ambient, minimalistic vibe, the duo sets the scene with subdued drums and reverberating vocal samples in "Intro", before upping the pace in "Helium". The robust beats pair well with Noah's falsettos, echoing its namesake with high-pitched croons and a classically smooth R&B vibe. In the sinfully-smooth and soulful "Steam", Shagabond crafts a luscious soundscape fit for Noah's buttery vocals – highly heart-wrenching, highly evocative.
Previously released "Arouse" is the classic R&B track that follows, illuminating the laid-back groove the duo exudes, underlaid with sensual overtones. "Genuine" on the other hand, weaves a more intimate and personal narrative of love, laden with wonky bass and synth-heavy pads. Rounding off the EP, "Stars" is a more uptempo, uplifting track that ups the ante on wonky synths and chords for a truly unique soundscape.
