Two weeks removed from the season finale of Atlanta and the surprise drop of first single "Me And Your Mama," Childish Gambino has returned with a second single titled "Redbone" from the forthcoming album Awaken, My Love!, which will be his first release since 2014's STN MTN / Kauai and his first album since 2013's Because The Internet.
With every work he has released, the 30 Rock writer-turned-rapper has tweaked his sound more and more, never satisfied with staying within one realm. This new single is similar in vein to "Me And Your Mama," opting for a soulful, spacey sound but also modifying his voice to have a much higher, almost squeaky, pitch. "Redbone" debuted as Annie Mac's Hottest Record on her show on BBC Radio 1 with the host herself being particularly fascinated with the Prince influence she felt was heavy in the song.
