It's always good when a young, up and coming emcee goes back to the heart and soul of hip-hop and brings those boom bap vibes. We've seen a slight revival of this style, with the likes of Joey Bada$$ and Action Bronson amongst the forerunners of the upsurge. Now it's the turn of a young British rapper by the name of ThisisDA.
Hailing from Bristol, the teenage rapper has previously been featured on EARMILK for his track "Ragz2Riches" and now he's back with a brand new song and video entitled "Lifers". The arty video was produced by HotBeefSundae, who have previously worked with the likes of C.O.N.F.Z on the visuals for his "Underground Airplay" remix. "Lifers" is taken from DA's forthcoming free album, Super Arkane. The entire project is produced by Mankub, who, if this track is anything to go by, brings some nice sampled beats to the table that have that real authentic hip-hop feel to them. Super Arkane is due out late this year, but until then you can download his previous work from his Bandcamp or head over to his Soundcloud, where you can stream a few more already released tracks from the album, including my personal favourite, "Deadlines To Headlines".
