DrexTheJoint unveils 'The One Who Did' project

Emerging 19-year-old Mexican rapper DrexTheJoint is putting the West Coast on his back with his bouncy, no-frills rap style.

The Santa Ana-raised rapper’s ethos of staying true to his code is deeply embedded in his music. In his own words, “Everything I rap about in my lyrics is everything I’ve been through, seen, or lived in the city I come from.”

The 15-track album The One Who Did is a deep dive into the inner workings of DrexTheJoint's West Coast allegiances and his experiences in Orange County. From personal losses to successes and everything in between, he takes listeners deep into the trenches of this project.

DrexTheJoint opens the floodgates on the first track, “Bad Bitches,” where he flexes his lyrical muscles. He then takes listeners around the hood in the moody “Robbin” and lights up the club on “Toot That Shit Up.”

Drexthejoint sticks to what he knows, the exquisite lifestyle his talent has afforded him and the need to escape from the harsh realities of his past. However, he continues to show love to his stomping grounds and friends on tracks like the city anthem “Put the City On,” the unapologetic “Dog Talk,” and the playful “Do It Up.”
Other standout tracks include the previously released “Bounce Out” and the moody “Why,” where he showcases his melodic abilities.

DrexTheJoint’s style blends laidback flows with off-beat, melody-infused cadences, all anchored by his distinct vocal drawl. While he takes the lead on most of the tracks, he also enlists fellow rappers like Cypress Moreno, Heembeezy, and Mike Sherm, among others, to add their voices to the mix.

DrexTheJoint is slated to perform at Rolling Loud California for the first time this year in March. The festival is scheduled for March 15-16, 2025, at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles, California.
