Australian indie pop artist and self described patron of sad girls Elizabeth has just unveiled the second track and visuals in a suite of three interconnected singles. Entitled "Sweet Connection," the bittersweet song follows "Happier Now," which was released in June.
"Sweet Connection" was cowritten and produced by ARIA-nominated electronic artist Alice Ivy. The irresistible sonic escape profiles falling in love but also the trepidation that can accompany an intense connection and an all too serious relationship too soon. With lyrics including, "Sweet connection / I've been waiting all my life to find you / I can feel it / there is some healing that I still have yet to do", Elizabeth understands her love for this other person but also acknowledges she isn't one hundred percent ready for the devotion and commitment.
Elizabeth's vocals transcend from a warm soulful tone in the verse into a soaring and heightened falsetto for the chorus, adding an intensity and urgency to the song that parallels the ups and downs of emotions when falling for someone new. Downtempo electronic beats underlay swelling synths and bright keys for an unforgettable musical memory. The accompanying visuals show many others singing the lyrics to the song to Elizabeth in an audition to be her future lover, paralleling the theme of new intimacy.
