Veteran Detroit emcee Guilty Simpson is preparing his new album GUILT, and in the interim serves us the visuals for the lead single “Go Where I Please". The hard-hitting instrumental by Man Bites Dog Records producer Kount Fif is ripe with dark cinematic stabs, distorted textures, and a thick booming bass drum to boot. As the title suggests, Simpson reminds us why he is a true OG and veteran in the game. He effortlessly decimates the microphone with his laid-back, yet commanding flow and authoritative rhymes like "Not like these emcees, I stir better/ Walk them straight to the water and make them jump, that is pier(peer) pressure". He is also joined by DJ Ragz who adds a nice touch to the chorus with some excellent turntable performances flipping the classic line from Nas' "It Ain't Hard to Tell".
The accompanying video was edited by R.M.L. who makes use of gloomy and almost grainy visual aesthetics as the theme. Besides that, he keeps it straightforward and captures Guilty Simpson's mellow persona as he does his thing in the studio and we also see DJ Ragz on the wheels of steel cutting the record up.
GUILT is a 7 track project that features contributions from Prince Po, Bronze Nazareth, and Oh No, with production handled by Kount Fif, Dub Sonata, Maitre D, Bronze Nazareth, and Jason Rose.
