LA production duo and “soul-house” pioneers Two Friends are back with their latest sing-a-long electronic pop jam, arriving on Armada Trice with the head-bobbing house hit “Emily.” I may be a bit biased because my girlfriend is named Emily, but this one has ‘summer anthem’ written all over it.

Two Friends – real names: Matt Halper and Eli Sones – have built a formidable reputation for their ability to seamlessly blend elements of pop and dance while producing brilliant vocal crossover tunes. Featuring an infectious top line from American crooner James Delaney, “Emily” is no different, as their polished production prowess is on full display with warm guitar plucks frolicking through a bouncy bassline. However, what makes the track really shine are the subtle nuances of their unique sound, like the fact that they eschew the use of kickdrums on the first drop to accentuate the beautiful chords, which are acutely arpeggiated to dazzling effect. In a press release issued for the track, the guys explained that the lyrics of "Emily" have a deeper meaning:
There's not necessarily a specific Emily that we wrote this about, but Emily is more of a metaphor for a few different people in our lives, we'll say that much. And I know a lot of people can relate to those experiences where a relationship starts out super exciting and then falls into a sort of complacency, but you're still too addicted to them to leave.
Fans of Two Friends can catch them during their “Out Of Love” tour, which you can purchase tickets for here.
