Ye Ali has crooned his way into listeners' hearts with his soulful combination of trap and traditional r&B on his 2016 debut, TrapHouseJodeci(THJ). Since that release, the young LA-based artist has lent his talents to a number of rappers and singers. Thankfully, this should soon change as the "Ring 4X" singer is back and is gearing up for the release of the forthcoming album, TrapHouseJodeci 2 (THJ2).
TrapHouse Jodeci is the apt moniker for Ye Ali. He has the ability to sing about some of the loveliest moments about relationships, in the most seductive grimiest way possible. He drizzles romanticism all over 808s and litters poetry with frequent mentions of narcotics or hedonism. Case in point, his latest single "Loyalty." A song that is an ode to women who hold their partners down, but composed of a series of smooth pickup lines. "Let's talk about you baby girl, cause I be around me all the time," is an especially good one.
However, Ye Ali's ability to sound good skirting the line between trap and R&B is one of the intriguing aspects of his music. "Loyalty" also benefits from another solid feature from Eric Bellinger, who also plays with the ideas of the two genres. Their chemistry on this track is tantalizing and should make listeners excited to hear more from both in the near future. For now, check out "Loyalty" above.
