Light Year – "Moderation" Remixes Pt. 1 [EP Review]

Half a year ago, Australian techno legend Light Year (Jordan Feller) pleased the world with his two-track “Moderation” EP. Now, its name-giving track gets dignified by two releases full of remixes delivered by some very exciting producers. The first part of the “Moderation” Remixes was released last week on the upcoming Australian label of “UNTZ”-music Motorik!. The label was founded at the beginning of the year and already featured two beautiful EPs (Keep Holding On and MAO) that amazed a lot of turntable performers. Jordan grabbed everyone's attention with the “5 Girls” EP at the end of 2010 on Bang Gang Records. At that time, Mikey Melas, who now produces and DJs under the name Jensen Interceptor, was part of Light Year as well.

For all of you who do not know the original track "Moderation" yet, there is a beautiful music video to fill the gaps in your knowledge:

The first of the three remixes included in this EP was crafted by none else than Paul Woolford who is a synonym for productions of highest quality. He is the creator of the dance floor anthem "Erotic Discourse" and started his Special Request project earlier this year with two vinyl only releases. His massive remix is a perfect example of what people call "modern techno" — the good old sounds arranged in this fresh and special way. He will also deliver a second remix on the "Moderation" Remixes Pt. 2 which will be released next month.

Jori Hulkkonen, the Finnish techno legend with almost twenty aliases (such as Bobby Forester or Zyntherius), gives us a remix that keeps the mesmerizing atmosphere of the original and even amplifies it by using repeating vocals and extremely powerful acid vibes.

If there is not enough acid for you in Jori's remix you should listen to the last one by the two young childs of prodigy Gingy & Bordello from Montreal. They are definitely two of the most interesting producers nowadays and already had several releases on Turbo Recordings including their "Iron & Water" EP (+ remixes) and appearances on the amazing New Jack Techno Compilation. Their vibrant remix with the extra portion of bass matches exactly what Mororik is all about: UNTZ!

There is no free download this time but instead of that a nice hint of Light Year's future with this brilliant remix of DV8's track "C'mon" that he dropped in his Hard Summer Mixtape 2012 – enjoy it:
