Daijo on turning memory into music and his new single “Remember Me” [Interview]

Daijo has always made music from the heart.

Born in Hamburg, Germany, and raised in Vancouver by his mother, an Iranian refugee, his life has been shaped by resilience, hope, and a quiet determination to build something meaningful from nothing. Those early experiences watching his mother navigate a new country with nothing but courage and persistence left a deep mark on him, teaching lessons about strength, gratitude, and the value of pursuing your passion against all odds.

Music became Daijo’s sanctuary.

As a child, he was a quiet observer—attentive, reflective, and always absorbing the world around him. While other kids played outside, he gravitated toward sound, listening with intensity, experimenting with instruments, and learning to express himself in ways words couldn’t capture.

Over time, that curiosity became a calling, a way to translate the emotions and stories of his life into something tangible, shared, and universal.

“My mother’s journey shaped me,” he says. “She came to a new country with nothing, but always carried hope. That story lives in my music. There’s always a spiritual undertone, a sense that no matter how dark it gets, there’s light ahead.”

His sound today reflects that lifelong exploration. Daijo blends the emotional depth of film scores, the spiritual resonance of church choirs, and the driving energy of dance music.

Each track he makes is cinematic, layered, and deeply personal, capturing the emotional spectrum of life — from quiet introspection to euphoric release.

Over the past few years, Daijo has steadily carved a reputation for creating music that feels authentic, heartfelt, and cinematic, earning support from tastemakers and fans worldwide who are drawn to the honesty in his work.

His recent single “Remember Me” continues this thread. The track embodies reflection and resilience, balancing melancholy with uplifting movement. It’s about holding on while letting go, a universal sentiment captured in sound. Daijo’s intention is clear: he wants listeners to feel seen, understood, and reminded that even in moments of struggle, there is connection and hope.

“‘Remember Me’ came from a place of reflection,” Daijo explains. “It’s about the people, moments, and emotions that shape us — even after they’re gone. I wanted to make something alive, something that hits the heart but also makes you move. That mix of vulnerability and energy is where I feel most at home.”

Through his music, Daijo not only tells his own story but invites listeners into a space where emotion and rhythm coexist. His journey from Hamburg to Vancouver, from quiet childhood observer to a rising international producer, is reflected in every note he creates.

With “Remember Me,” Daijo continues to define his lane in electronic music as he shares: “I hope people feel seen when they hear this song. It’s about being remembered when you feel invisible. That’s what makes music powerful — it connects us through shared vulnerability.”

Listen to the track now out on all streaming platforms.
