The Bronx artist Sean Barrelz has shared a new single called "A Reason". After building momentum through a series of gritty, poetic tracks and a co-sign from Fat Joe, Barrelz took an almost a three year hiatus, before returning to drop off his new scorchers "A Reason" and "Know What It Is", through Chris Gotti’s Add Ventures Music. “A Reason” is an energetic song featuring vital drill production and raw flows that samples classic vocals from Fat Joe. “Know What It is” is a summertime street anthem featuring sweltering instrumentation and hard-edged vocals, where he makes a reference to the Dyckman basketball tournament located in New York City. Both of these singles represent a fiery, confident comeback for him after not releasing any music for almost three years.
"A Reason" contains blazing drill production centred around hypnotic vocal samples, heavy percussion, and booming bass. Paying homage to Fat Joe with a classic vocal sample while also dropping a series of raw, captivating bars, "A Reason" retains a uniquely Bronx feel. The expansive track puts Barrelz charisma and confident mic presence on display atop the invigorating production.
"Know What It Is" is a sweltering track suitable for the summer time, with humid synth lines laced atop punchy, muscular percussion and cathartic bass. The production throws it back to early 2000s NYC hip-hop while keeping its style refreshing, and Barrelz delivers sharp darts on the mic that suit the beat's vibrant intensity.
After a three year hiatus, "A Reason" and "Know What It Is" find Barrelz returning with energy and focus, dropping off two quintessentially NYC tracks that are apt for the hot weather of the coming summer months.
