Khyenci, a Bay Area native who now resides in Las Vegas, has released a tempting new R&B single titled "Only Fans," which practically drips with a sexy swagger. The young singer has been on the radar of indie R&B and pop fans for a while now as a result of her many standout features, and she now finds herself delivering this new project with producer Josh Connolly and embattled emcee Tory Lanez.
This catchy after-hours anthem appears to have been influenced by the infamous content-sharing site OnlyFans.com (…don't act like you don't know) – opening with a distant cry that fades into soft and ghostly strings. The singer's voice easily floats out of the speakers, accompanied by a chunky 12-bit drum-machine and sparse guitar twangs. Khyenci's voice is warm and inviting, and her soft-touch cadence gets things started on a flirtatious note. But listeners quickly get what they came for when our angelic-sounding host strikes her enticing "you gotta pay to play" pose. She sets firm ground rules for anyone who wants to have a little fun and never forgets to keep her "fans" on a tight leash.
"From the moment I started writing the song I was like 'okay, this is a fun one.' I just wanted to feed into that feeling. I wanted something cool and energetic that encompassed some confidence." the singer writes.
On the whole, this is a clubby and infectious number where themes of money, power, and sex effortlessly play off each other. And just as important, it serves as an empowering anthem for those of us who have made the jump to the adult-themed platform – haters be damned.
