Tacoma, Washington native and Mellow Music group signee Blakk Soul announces his debut project alongside the release of the premier single titled "Help." The emerging singer has had some behind the scenes work writing and providing background vocals for names such as Playboi Carti, Dr. Dre, Macklemore, Anderson .Paak, Little Brother, Jake One, and more. On his new single "Help" he recruits Slaughterhouse MC Joell Ortiz, to help fuse some good old rugged hip-hop into the smooth R&B/soul vibes he has going on.
Backed by the lush textures and mellow drums courtesy of Kuddie Fresh, Blakk Soul matches the expectations that come with his moniker as he delivers a heartfelt performance that is both melodic and soul-gripping. He peppers the verses with a heartwarming message about taming one's ego in all aspects of life. He culminates this on the chore where he states "...Take a good look in the mirror/Everyone needs some help…".It's pretty obvious he is influenced by the greats such as D'Angelo, Mary J Blige as he embodies the same soulful spirit that made them stand out. Joell Ortiz complements the subject matter with a solid verse that details how teamwork makes the dream work.
