Italian DJ and producer Mennie has released his space-fuelled EP Proxmia via Moscow Records, a tenacious two-track selection that exhibits both sophisticated passion and reposed confidence.
Title track "Proxima" kicks off the EP with an atmospheric cut, injecting acid squelches for an otherworldly ambiance. Wonky bass lines make up the track, interlaced with echoes of distorted vocals amidst the modulated build up. It leaves no room to imagination as Mennie grounds us in an unabashed soundscape, planting dreams of space into our mental landscape. On the other hand, "Do That" utilizes a similar otherworldly aesthetic though with more metallic effects. Electronic bleeps and rattling drum patterns become the base of the track, all guided by a funk-infused bass.
Joining Moscow Records following releases on Poker Flat, Infuse and Rawax, Mennie is a regular DJ at Florence's Tenax Club when not performing across Europe, having appeared in the UK, France, Germany and Spain. Alongside Julien Sandre, the Italian producer is also one half of Jarau, releasing on labels such as One Records, Visionquest and Pleasure Zone.
