When he is not producing for the likes of Zion I and Lyrics Born, producer Nick Andre is a man with his hands in several pies, while still managing the affairs of his record label Slept On Records. Quite recently he just finished working on production for the new Gift Of Gab(Blackalicious) album and Lateef The Truth Speaker respectively. But while crafting a beat that would fit the two rhyme slingers, he would eventually manifest it into his own newest single "Turn Back" featuring both seasoned emcees.
For those that are fans and staunch followers of Lateef and Gift of Gab, the collaboration is pure joy manifested on wax and also serves as a reunion since they first worked together on the Blackalicious debut album Blazing Arrow. The rhymers waste no time in taking the opposition to the cleaners with their tandem approach. No rhyme is wasted as the tag team comes swinging hard at every turn.
Musically, Nick Andre delivers a percussion-driven backdrop laced with a thick bass line and cinematic feel that makes it sound like something out of a 70s blaxploitation flick. To bring things to a closure, vocalist Eric Boss steps in for the chorus and delivers a triumphant hook giving the song a full anthemic vibe.
Nick Andre is currently working on a series of singles with a different featured guest to be released throughout the end of 2018.
