I don’t know about ya’ll, but I can hardly fix a bowl of Top Ramen in 7 minutes, let alone pack vivid imagery, engaging storytelling, and emotionally stirring nostalgia into a 7-minute EP. But this is precisely what Nigerian emcee Phlow has done, recently dropping her Asuai (Vol. 2) tape on her birthday, though she’s the one dishing out gifts in the form of four buttery, head-bobbin' hip hop joints.
Straight out of Lagos, Nigeria, Phlow’s growth since releasing her first Asuai project in 2016 is apparent in every bar on Asuai (Vol. 2). Montreal’s Dr. MaD soundtracks each bangin’ instrumental on Phlow’s latest project that reminisces on her younger days with reflective bars while using past life lessons to help shape her future steps.
Overall, it's a solid effort all-around from Phlow, who brings a positive vibe and message to each track, punctuated by a refreshing, nonchalant delivery.
