Genre walls keep falling, and with their slow and steady demise, more and more amazing musicians continue to work their way out from underneath the rubble. The latest instance of cross-genre pollination producing something perfect is Everyone You Know’s debut single, “Our Generation.”

Comprised of brothers Rhys Kirkby-Cox and Harvey Kirkby, Everyone You Know is equal parts electro and pop with deep enough roots in hip hop to make them feel both unique and familiar at the same time.

The London duo not only released their newest single in preparation for their debut EP, Cheer Up Charlie, but also released the accompanying video for it on the same day. And damn, talk about starting off on the right foot.

The video for “Our Generation” puts the two brothers front in center, not only introducing us to them, but to the subjects of their anthem; ourselves. From deep cuts of their home videos to current shots of the boys and their friends, “Our Generation” provides a window into the world of a young adult in today’s times. What’s most intriguing about the video and it’s accompanying song is how spot on the lyrics are in describing the youth. It nails the ups and downs of trying to be an adult while partying and coming down from that high.

No word on a release date for Cheer Up Charlie but you can bet we’ll cover it as soon as it drops. With a leadoff single like “Our Generation” Cheer Up Charlie is a tape you can’t afford to miss. Press play on "Our Generation" above and keep it locked right here on EARMILK for more news on Everyone You Know.
