The popularity of UK rap music is at an all time high. That's a fact. Whether it's the gritty tones of London's Giggs, or the energetic & aggressive bars from Birmingham's Jaykae, the scene across the pond is on the cusp of a HUGE wave. Every man and their dog want to be a rapper right now, and it's hard to find the most talented amongst the sea of disappointing wannabes. However, in Manchester, Afro Sam is trying to carve out his own path in the music world, and he might just have the talent to do so.
Sam's first visual release from his E.P is the uptempo "Basic" which sees the Mancunian wordsmith chop it up over a grimey instrumental that's little touches of garage will definitely have ravers tearing up the dance floor across the globe. His rhymes are executed perfectly with a slick flow that rides the beat so effortlessly. The visuals see's Sam in various locations across the city of Manchester, mobbing' out with his homies. "Basic" is the lead single taken from his recently released EP Baggie Eyes, which was unleashed via new Manchester based label Very Clever Records.
