Spreading her message of ethnic and feminist resistance by her own unique and colorful sound, Jarina De Marco inducts us into her Church of No Fucks Given with the video for her aggressively irreverent single “STFU.” Following her previous singles “Tigre," featured on the Broad City Soundtrack, and “TRUE ROMANCE” with GTA, Jarina again teams up with the genre-defying Miami production duo to bring us this hard-hitting track.
Directed by Madelyn Deutch, the music video pays tribute to the song’s backdrop of 90’s nostalgia with Ring Pops, Lisa Frank, Power Rangers and Tamagotchis that are “still alive,” as Jarina washes away any fucks that her disciples give in a lavender spring. Drawing on her Dominican and Brazilian roots, Jarina’s sound and style is ushering in a multi-ethnic future, and this high energy video embodies her ability to defiantly transcend categories and borders.
