The last time I was in Portland, I had nothing but Voodoo Donuts on my mind.
What a mistake.
My Rose City rendezvous should have included a session with Rare Treat, a trippy hip hop trio composed of Myke Bogan, The Last Artful, Dodgr and producer Neill Von Tally. Rare Treat's been making some serious noise since their self-titled EP dropped, and today they premiere some psychedelic, epilepsy-inducing visuals in the form of "Pop!"
Give yourself a much-needed midweek pick-me-up and peep out the colorful flick below. (You won't need 3D glasses for this one.)
The most hardcore pill I've popped is a Flintstone Vitamin, but I feel like Rare Treat's sound and visual aesthetic here encapsulate the feel of a late-night promethazine-fueled escapade. Tally's drowsy, bassy production is the perfect backdrop for Myke and Dodgr to bodybag the track; the latter's hook, especially, is an otherworldly kind of dope.
