Italian producer Alex Kenji's imprint Hotfingers has become a go-to destination for authentic disco and Ibiza-inspired house music. For the label's latest release, the team brought on Toronto's Jerome Robins and his single "Higher." Robins has a past in massive collaborations, with Kenji himself and other notable house artists like Matteo DiMarr, Etienne Ozborne and DJ Dan. On "Higher" he's linked up with another frequent partner in production, Zenbi, on a groovy disco track that employs a classically soulful and catchy vocal. On remix duties in this release is Alex Kenji, helping the track to take on a sleek, sultry persona for velvety underground play.
The efficacy of the producers' efforts are tangible in both the remix and the original mix of "Higher." While the original's piano keep its groove tied to classic house, Kenji's remix brings the track down to an underground space. The track is streaming now and out today via Beatport.
