This is your Daily 2% – Chilled and Ready to Serve. We will try to bring you one “chill” track every day. This is for when you get home and you are trying to unwind. You reach for that glass of wine or that unlit Black & Mild or maybe you reach for something more herbal. This track is for those times. We are just your milkmen and I’m here to make a delivery. Chill…..

Today's delivery is brought to you by King Midas Sound. Signed to Ninja Tune Records, King Midas Sound, a group comprised of Kevin Martin, Roger Robinson and Kiki Hitomi, have been putting out collaborative records sporadically(thanks Clueless) over the last few years. And now they've laid out plans to put out 4 separate back-to-back collaborative albums starting with Edition 1 which finds the group teaming up with Austrian guitarist, Christian Fennesz. With this project, King Midas Sound brings the dark ambient soundscapes which is then combined with Christian's heavily emotive and distorted guitar wizardry.

The track i'm bringing to you today which comes from the Edition 1 album is called "Loving or Leaving". What immediately stands out about this trip-hop homage of a track is the heavily reverbed out oscillating and ghostly synths that seem to be trying to quietly hug your body. The oscillation seems ripe for some type of whip cream making mechanism that might take the sound journey on a quick trip to the next level. And  then combining all of this with the slightly off key walking bassline; you have the makings of a chilled out dark journey that i'm sure even Tricky would approve of. Check out the track and chill…..

Like many, I started my musical education while engaged in playing classical music in school. What began as a simple adolescent activity, quickly transformed into a deep love and appreciation for all forms of music. This love would continue to grow and manifested itself into the form of becoming a Co-Founder of EARMILK. This online music publication has become my outlet to spread all genres of music to those impressionable people, much like me. And, much like you, i'm often literally waiting for the drop....
