Com Truise is handing out massive strokes. It isn’t just the playful spoonerism. “Subsonic” melds noir synths that harken to Terminator with chiptunes like circuit-bent Casios. The deep pitched cyborg vocal repetition and machine-gun hi-hat take it into glitch territory, and just when things get their most choppy, the bridge slides in like a tamed Aphex Twin jam to let you catch your breath. It isn’t long after that the track soars into the well-laid track of thick-hop beats and sparkling glitches.
