One of hip hop's leading ladies, New York emcee Jean Grae shows us exactly what we ought to be vibing to next with the release of her newest song, "U&Me&EveryoneWeKnow", off her upcoming debut album, Cake or Death. Tightly woven around a breezy jazz piano melody, the track ushers listeners in with a gorgeous intro (produced by Greasy herself) combining a smokey horn and a medley of finely curated synths. This is all before the initial beat drops.
Since Genius, Grae has been laying the groundwork for what it takes to be recognized as a credible female emcee and "U&Me&EveryoneWeKnow" seems to be part of a larger body of work we can't wait to see. Grae's bars are as strong as stainless steel; you'd have to give the track a few replays to gather all of what she is saying about love, loss and everything that comes in between.
