Robyn has been expressing her creativity in a vast range of musical styles over the past few years. In 2014 it was alongside Röyksopp, and most recently in 2016 it was disco with Mr. Tophat. She also commissioned a new slew of remixes of her pop hits from artists she respects like The Black Madonna and Cassius on her RMX / RBN project last summer. But now, to the delight of many of the Swedish pop artist's fans' delights, Robyn has returned to pop music – from what we can tell.
Last week, Robyn hinted at a full-circle appearance on a future episode of Girls on HBO. Full-circle because of the now infamous scene from the series's first season, and now, in some form returning in the series's last and final season. But her extensive slideshow didn't reveal much besides her in front of a Girls billboard, so speculation arose – until the show's airing last night.
As she detailed in an explanation in another Instagram post today, Robyn was approached by Lena Dunham herself to do something special for the show's end. To our luck, it was a premiere of a track we now know as "Honey," and now we are anxiously awaiting a full release of the track.
After Lena used Dancing On My Own in the first season of Girls, in the most amazing way, i was so happy she asked me if she could put another of my songs in the series. I sent her some music im working on and she picked Honey. It wasnt ready to be released, but i finished this version for her and Girls ❤. Thank you @lenadunham for making this tv-show that flips my brain like a burger like 15 times every episode, i love that feeling! And for bringing up all these emotionally complex situations in such a brilliant way, without making excuses. And thank you for asking me to make music for your work. I wouldnt want to miss out on making music for Adams movie for anything. :) #girls
Until then, we'll have to watch the episode over and over, and listen to the ripped preview that someone decided to upload to SoundCloud.
