CRSSD makes a big splash at Waterfront Park for DAY.MVS XL

As their first large scale event since the peak of the pandemic, organizers of CRSSD Festival in San Diego warmed up the region with the debut of DAY.MVS XL – a full scale, yet stripped back setup featuring 2 stages and a full-capacity crowd at Waterfront Park.

Alongside lineups of top tier talent in house and techno music, CRSSD is also known as a boutique festival that hosts a mature crowd of dance music fans across the region. The atmosphere at DAY.MVS was a refreshing as compared to national all-genre dance festivals, seeing a crowd genuinely interested in authentic sounds of house and techno spanning across Waterfront Park all the while brimming with excitement to return to the festival experience.

Fans were eager to arrive early on the first day of DAY.MVS XL, with most rejoicing to be back at a sizable festival once again.

The Southside stage saw some top names in house take the stage such as Stacy Pullen and Felix The Housecat, with a special back-to-back set between techno titans Tiga back-to-back with Danny Daze being a Southside highlight of the day.

Northside hosted an array of house, techno, daytime disco and tech-house oriented acts throughout day one. Cloonee swiftly brought strong energy to the field and Yung Bae played an equally spirited daytime disco set on the Northside Stage.

Monolink played a coveted sunset set, starting his live set soulfully weaving his vocals alongside instrumental and electronic elements. Steadily building the energy of his set as the sun went down he closed his set with a driving live edition of his track "Return to Oz" as remixed by ARTBAT.

As the festival lit up the night, MK delivered a fun, energetic set paving way for Fisher to close out the first night of DAY.MVS, dropping classics and ID's alike and his latest single "It Feels Tight".

As fans returned to Waterfront Park for the second day of DAY.MVS XL, they were greeted by the the special, unannounced guest for Sunday who turned out to be none other than Green Velvet, who played a high energy signature set that greeted fans as they entered the festival from the south side stage.

Following a bright and buoyant melodic daytime set on the Northside from Luttrell, highly anticipated billing of Yotto going to back to back with Jeremy Olander – in contrast to both of their deep, brooding dynamic club sets, the duo played a flowing blend of disco and house music that suited the time of day. South African starlet Nora En Pure played at sunset, with highlights of her including a refreshing play of the Anyma remix of RUFUS DU SOL's latest single "Alive".

In a series of nonstop Afterlife and Innervisions bliss, from 6pm till the end of the festival top names of forward thinking techno were beind the decks of the Southside stage Mathame delivered one of the most articulate and intelligent techno sets of the festival, followed by Recondite's moody ambiance and Amé finishing the day out with a 2 hour set of eclectic, percussive techno.

Closing the festival on the Northside Stage, Lane 8 drove it home with an exceptional peak-time set, featuring his hallmark remixes of Caribou State's "Wildflower", Virtual Self's "Ghost Voices", George Fitzgerald's "Burns" and more including an exquisite mashup of The Temper Trap's "Sweet Disposition". After a show stopping first hour of his set catering towards long time fans as well as a new ID, he played selects off of his Brightest Lights album alongside his latest release "Riptide", closing soulfully and truly creating some extremely special moments to end the festival.

Lane 8 and Yotto also went back-to-back for a coveted rare set at SPIN Nightclub in San Diego following the show that lucky fans tapped-in got to enjoy following the festival.

Overall, DAY.MVS XL made quite a splash of a return to the home of CRSSD, and fans can expect 3 stages of top names in house and techno upon the return to Waterfront Park for the flagship festival next month.
