If you want hardcore, this is the one right here with Trust the Chain II

Legendary emcee Planet Asia, hailing from Fresno, California, and rapper/producer 38spesh link again to display the epitome of lyricism, excellence, and presence. Gritty and grimy flows over some extremely special productions. The choruses are interesting and resonate within every single record on the EP. A respective balance of hardcore rhyming and full beats. This collaboration is definitely one that will continue to shake up the industry. Drums, keys, strings, and vocals all seem to be polished and expound what it sounds like to be tiers above the competition. If expertise sounded like anything it would absolutely sound like “Trust the Chain II.”

Sonically the records have the feel of true underground hip hop. The mixes have a raw sound, but sonically sound amazing. Tracks like “Players and Dons” have an old cassette player sound, which amplifies the lyrics for the better. It's a perfect unison from the content of the lyrics and the gutter boom bap style of production from 38spesh. Each record plays into each other well without any sort of drop-off lyrically, with no filler raps. The project captivates and draws you into the lyrics because if you aren't listening you will absolutely

“Upscale" just might have the softest production on the EP. Full of soul, the strings add a jazz feel and mesh well with the rhyming of the rhymes. The track resonates with the grind type of feel music, references to sacrifices, and major moves being made to survive and make it.

All 3 artist present themselves within their organic and respected styles. There is no clashing, but swords being sharpened with the lyrical sparring. The chorus isn't too complex but carries well. It has the ability to paint a vivid image of “ballin” and being a major to one's self. A well-rounded record and definitely something that inspires a hunger inside, something to roll around to while you handle business.

“Inertia” is the second record on the EP and definitely keeps the momentum going. Planet Asia shows his lyrical sword, swarming the mind like buzzing bees with metaphor after metaphor while he keeps a crisp and steady flow. The chorus gives some thoughtfulness to who he is as a man. A very Solid record.

“Greatness” is a diverse record, as the final track, it's a good anchor. The track has a good feel that you can vibe to while listening to the punchlines. The record has the feel of riding with a top down doing a sunny day. “We be riding skating” is definitely what the record gives off. A smooth production with what sounds like bells adds a soulful presence. An excellent selection to end the EP.

All in all, the EP was definitely excellent and tailored for deep hip-hop fans. This might be a good selection to step away from some mainstream records to really get a feel of what heavy lyricism feels like. Also, how differently it can be executed from track to track, a solid body of work.
