Emerging indie-pop talent Sloane Monroe delivers a smooth blend of electronica and pop on “Clueless,” unravelling the story of a short-lived attempt at a romance.
Led by authentic and relatable lyricism alongside dreamy sonics and defiant vocal lines, the track swerves from Monroe’s bluesy signature to offer up something refreshing.
Commenting on the inspiration behind the track, Monroe says, “‘Clueless’ came from a quintessential late-night conversation with a friend. I was on the phone, laughing about how I’d met a guy on a night out who was completely oblivious to my interest. “Clueless baby” I said, and suddenly, a little lightbulb went off. The next morning, I revisited a project I had been working on for my friend Rebecca (Le Montais), isolating a sample and building the chorus. A few writing sessions later, ‘Clueless’ was born.”
Having begun her musical explorations at the age of four Monroe has established a reputation as a singer-songwriter capable of mesmerising us. Inspired by London’s vivid nightlife, Monroe’s layers of bluesy songwriting with hints of pop and electronica soundscapes carves out an exciting path for her artistry.
