Returning with her powerful latest single, alt-pop artist and singer-songwriter Nnancy takes us on an emotional rollercoaster with her new hit "Murder On My Mind". The song opens with a beautiful yet haunting melody as she sings angelically to the backing of a piano, describing a story we can all relate to- falling for someone who isn’t who they appear to be, and struggling to accept the painful truth.

The themes of heartbreak, longing, and deception Nnancy navigates are complex, but she explores them with the rawness and vulnerability needed to allow listeners to gain a transparent and intimate understanding of how she feels. In an interview, Nancy explained “It’s about loving an illusion and then coming to terms with the truth. The music reflects that instability- unsettling yet strangely resonant.”

A good example of this would be in the lyric  “You showed me all the good parts, while kissing my scars, only to find out you are the same”, where we get a sense of the disillusionment she is faced with, intertwined with the bittersweet reality that she must accept what is real. This intense emotion is embodied throughout the song, where we experience a build-up of instrumentation in the form of electronic club beats and atmospheric production, resulting in cathartic EDM.

For anyone who is a fan of her music, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that it is an escape for her, enabling her to process her emotions creatively, in a way that people can resonate and find solace in. Before finding the experimental sound she uses now, her previous works could be described as reflective and tender- demonstrating an early ability to portray her emotions. Currently, Nnancy is focused on pushing boundaries, where she shared “For now, I don't want to limit myself. I strive to find creative approaches to self-expression and my artistic work.’  I think I can speak for the rest of us when I say that Nnancy is certainly one to watch, and I cannot wait to see what she brings out next.
