Cambridge indie trio LAY / BYE have released their latest single "Love Songs Are Boring <3," blending satirical lyrics with infectious indie-pop melodies. The track signals a shift in the band’s sound, moving from their rock roots toward a more polished, commercial feel. Produced by Matt Turner and Grammy-nominated Robin Schmidt (known for work with The 1975 and Nothing But Thieves), the song combines shimmering synths, buoyant guitar riffs, and a driving rhythm to create an upbeat yet reflective track. The band playfully critiques modern pop love songs while delivering a catchy tune that lingers.
Speaking about the track, the band explain: “Love Songs Are Boring <3' is a departure from our usual riffs. It reflects on loving someone you shouldn’t, drawing on the clichés of love stories we see in film and literature.”
