Sonyaé releases new high-powered single "Cameras Watchin" [Video]

Sonyaé puts her own electrifying twist to a Britney Spears sample with her new song "Cameras Watchin". For the NJ-bred singer, the sky's the limit this year as she prepares to release her upcoming album BLU. Anticipation for the project is at a high as it will be her first full-length release nearly six years. In the meantime, Sonyaé gives fans a taste for what's to come with her first single of the year.

"Cameras Watchin" is an animated bop as Sonyaé brags about doing what she wants because she can. The classic Britney Spears hit "Toxic" gets sped up and receives a drill rendition that's instantly attention-grabbing. Once the beats drops, the song explodes and Sonyaé begins rapping and hopscotching across flows like she's wearing a straitjacket in the booth. The cockiness in her delivery is what sells the song and makes the energy so exhilarating.

"He be on my titty cuz I'm sexy and I'm toxic,

[He] think he my main but I consider him an option,

He gon roll the gas, lick my ass, cameras watchin"

If there's anything to say about the song, it's that one more added verse would've been more good than harm. With all the electricity the beat brings, it does feel like the song ends burning off all the energy it has in store. Still, "Cameras Watchin" is a solid effort from the songwriter and the latest example of her polished rapping skills. Definitely stay on the look out for Sonyaé to drop as 2022 unravels.
