King of taking his work in different musical paths, LA-native Porsh Bet$ shares his new single "Things in The Way." With his refreshing brand of woozy synth pop, Bet$ blurs hip-hop beats throughout the track's blueprint to produce a laidback showcase of deep feels.
Navigating long distance relationships is never an easy task and on "Things in The Way," Bet$ reminds us of the struggle that being miles apart can create. Evoking these emotions with his gliding vocals, the track echos alt-pop stylings with its lucid, warming tones. There's also a romantic aspect to the track that fills you with simplistic joy, with whirring notes and buoyant synths, letting down its guard to reveal an honest account of crumbling intimacy.
"I wrote this when I first started seeing my girlfriend and I was living in LA and she was on the East Coast," he shares. "When I came to the studio that day to work with M-Phazes, I was frustrated because it felt like we were missing each other and led to us starting to close off and push away from one another. I just started listing off everything that was seemingly stopping us from being together. My complaints about our circumstances eventually became the hook of the song."
Entering the realm of alt-R&B, Porsh Bet$ refuses to be categorized within a single genre. With his previous tunes "Peanut Butter" and "Handle" inviting us into his multicoloured sonic universe, Bet$' promise of his sophomore EP next month leaves us yearning for more juicy goodness.
Things In The Way EP is out Feb 17th.
