Canadian producer IM’PERETIV is not resting on his oars and thrills his fans with two hard-hitting singles, "Under the Scope," and "Takin' a Trip" right off the bat. The records are excellent collaborations with the best of the best from the underground scene and bring to fore the power of collaboration.
He sets it off with the ominous sounds of "Under the Scope," which features Benny The Butcher and Rick Hyde. The result is a no holds barred piece that displays fiery lyricism from both rappers. Rick Hyde opens it up with his commanding flow and stylish bravado raps. This is followed by Benny The Butcher's distinct vocals and knack for painting edgy vivid pictures of the street life laced with gripping rhyme schemes and wordplay to boot.
On "Takin' a Trip," he teams up with Buffalo emcee Elcamino, battle rapper Chayna Ashley and rising rapper Plex Diamonds for a three the hard way type record. On the production department, IM'PERETIV sticks to a formula that works and cranks up a moody and dark backdrop riddled with solemn keys and sparse drum grooves. As expected, the emcees in question are on deck with the bars and take listeners on an aural trip ripe with graphic-verbal imagery and stylish cadences.
"On the Boards" is the final cut that brings together Lord Mobb artists, G4 Jag, and Starz Coleman for a superb rap tandem. The production is ominous and punchy as expected while the duo brings down the house with dark lyrical stylings and authoritative vocals.
