LA-based 90's dream pop act Sugarplum Fairies release their first new music in years with slow-mo offering “Tears,” taken from their upcoming collection Altar Songs 1998-2021. Led by frontwoman Silvia Ryder's signature whispered vocals, the track weaves a swooning soundscape with hazy, shoe-gaze vibes.

Uber slow and drenched in a rich blend of dreamy textures and soft beats, the melancholic ballad-style track burns with warmth and nostalgia as accompanying visuals weave a cinematic narrative around the life of a father and daughter. Delivered through the gentle strength of Ryder’s breathy vocals, the hypnotic instrumentals of the track is elevated by the tape-saturated aesthetic of the video, pulling us into a comforting nook of memories.

The only brand-new song in the forthcoming project of re-imaginings, “Tears,” infuses freshness into Sugarplum Fairies journey through their long musical history. Tracing their sonic evolution from their 1998 origins ofshoegaze infused folk-noir roots to jangly vintage guitar pop, the former husband-wife duo redefine their personal and creative dynamics on Altar Songs 1998-2021. The emotive, late night pop stylings of their latest track mark a new era of their craft, teasing their evolved penchant for experimentation and exploration.
