R&B duo YellowStraps released their new video for standout track "Take Over" from their new EP Goldress. The Belgian brothers unveiled the new video in addition to the new EP Goldress, released via Haliblue Records. The video follows their uphill battle for independence through smooth cinematography and alluring lighting.
"Take Over" is a fast tempo groove tinged with electronic accents. The use of high tempo production is climatic, matching YellowStrap's breaking point with a relationship gone bad. Between warm harmonies and jazz influences, YellowStrap revel over the complexities of their situation. "Take Over" finds the artists at an impasse over a toxic relationship while the smooth, alternative production serves as the backdrop. Directed by Francois Dubois, the video uses captivating imagery to ruminate over this unfortunate situation. The use of quick and dramatic scene transitions with accompanying interpretive dance hones in on the true stress of the relationship as the song's tempo continues to climb.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of Moonchild and Daniel Caesar, the alt-R&B duo has harnessed a unique downtempo sound. Goldress is YellowStrap's newest release since their 2018 EP Blame. The new project is a culmination of their slow-burning late-night sound. The group will be taking their new project on tour this spring.
