Bulgaria-born DJ and producer Metodi Hristov is back with his second release on Filth On Acid entitled Mover, a brilliant techno compilation featuring three smashing cuts.
The title track “Mover” stays true to its name, keeping you moving with silky sci-fi synths and warped acid lines. “Insane” is a little more relentless with its whirring machine sounds, gurgling acid and battering beats. Eerie vocals uttering the word “Insane” warrant the track to be used in a scene in a horror movie where someone is trapped in a house and slowly losing their mind. “Hidden Signals” closes things out with chattery claps and huge, oversized hi-hats that bring the intensity.
Following the release of Awaken EP in March, Hristov returns to Filth on Acid, a label founded in 2016 by Reinier Zonneveld in the Netherlands. The label serves as a platform to Zonneveld's artistic and creative freedom, ranging from filthy acid techno to deeper melodic tracks, from collaborations with some of the most well respected producers. Other artists on the roster include Bart Skils, Pig&Dan, Transcode, Nakadia, UMEK, Spektre, and Sharam (of Deep Dish), just to name a few.
Looking at Metodi Hristov’s library, I’ve got to say I’m absolutely blown away at the amount of music he puts out. With releases on labels such as Voltaire Music, Octopus Records, Natura Viva, and of course his own imprint Set About, and having received support from esteemed artists like Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Ida Engberg, and Joris Voorn, Hristov has established himself as a force to be reckoned with. Incredibly consistent with 1-4 releases or remixes every month since—I kid you not—March 2010, Metodi has demonstrated staggering versatility and has a wide-ranging presence thanks to all the various artists and labels he’s worked with.
