You might not be familiar with Belgium's freshest bass house duo Honey & Badger, but their music can often be found in the sets of the likes of Tchami, Malaa and Oliver Heldens. The latest EP, Grand Place III, consists of three tracks that are nothing but pure octane from start to finish.
The lead track "Delta" was used by Malaa as intro in his Ultra #FreeMalaa set. It is tailor-made for a warehouse rave cavern as the trundling vocal chants ensure ultimate dance-floor insanity throughout the track. Bringing out a groovier mood, "Koek" finds the perfect balance between the tech and the bass. This peak-time burner skillfully deploys pounding beats, frenetic dial-up effect, and witty vocal chops, creating a sense of polished charm. "Agora" wraps things up, taking a walk on the deep side. This low-end growler smoothly features synth stabs and a fat bassline, conjuring up the perfect late-night drive track to get you ready for the night out.
Honey & Badger cleverly uses the tracks' names to refer to what goods Belgium has to offer. While the world already knows France has been slaying the bass house scene, they are here to declare that there are new players in the game.
