AGoff releases a new single entitled “Drop" after a slew of mixtapes and features. Produced by AGoff himself, the beat is consistent with clean piano key notes backed by trappy 808 hi-hats, synths, and bass. This simple production and lit lyrics is a style he quietly helped popularize.
Throughout the decade, AGoff went through plenty of career transitions. He went from being a buzz-worthy rapper from Lousiana to being an instrumental component of Soulja Boy’s innovative SODMG collective. Then he developed into a sought after producer in underground rap after leaving SODMG. In recent years, he became a part of newly formed SGOD Records based in the DMV area, causing him to step back into the microphone and release various solo projects. Most of his catalog is more documented on Youtube and Soundcloud than newer streaming apps like Spotify and Apple music.
“Drop” has a catchy trap rap flow with no obvious hook break. AGoff embeds the hook in a freeform verse, crafting the whole song to serve as a hook. Chief Keef helped familiarize this new school technique to the masses outside of modern underground rap.
