Wisconsin hip hop artist Rob Hicks has been developing his sound since the release of his first single, "Perception," nine months ago. His quick-spitting rap style has not changed but, as evident on his newest project, his songwriting has improved drastically. Today he dropped the EP he has been teasing for months, Paradise in Hell. This project tells a tale of slow progression throughout its eight tracks. The first track, "Reign Clouds," is a slight remix to Rob's song "Perception," while the last song "WEWERENEVERFRIENDS" is a testament to Hicks' underrated storytelling abilities. The EP carries themes of struggle, reflection, and personal desires through small anecdotes on each track. Track number five is undeniably the most intriguing. "Party in Paradise" features rising Wisconsin artist Ted Parks on a melodic hook that allows the beat drop to carry an enormous amount of weight. The whole EP is a project that doesn't compromise Hicks' lyricism or rapping abilities for the making of great-sounding songs. Although he has been at it for some time, this is just the beginning for talented Wisconsin rapper Rob Hicks.
